Legal Assistance Program


 

The Florida Office of the State Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA) offers legal assistance services to Florida Army and Air National Guard Servicemembers (SM) during Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) Inactive Duty Training (IDT) (i.e., drill weekends). A legal assistance attorney may be able to assist SMs with the following topics:

  1. Estate planning (wills, powers of attorney);

  2. Servicemember Civil Relief Act (SCRA) protections;

  3. Family support obligations;

  4. FLIPL rebuttals;

  5. Potential Lautenburg issues;

  6. Referred OER / NCOER;

  7. Memorandum of reprimand; and

  8. USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act) protections

For assistance regarding topics not listed above, the Governor’s Initiative on Lawyers Assisting Warriors (GI LAW) program may be able to help.
