The Adjutant General of Florida
Major General James O. Eifert, The Adjutant General of Florida, is the Governor’s senior military advisor and serves as director of a state agency, the Florida Department of Military Affairs. As Adjutant General, he is responsible for the training and operations of the Florida National Guard, which is comprised of approximately 12,000 Soldiers and Airmen.

In this position, he is responsible to the Assistant Adjutant General-Air for mission readiness, operations, and coordination of eleven Florida Air National Guard units at seven geographically separated sites, including $137.9 million in operating budgets, 2,000 personnel, and a Headquarters staff of 44 members.

Colonel Gray A. Johnson is the Chief of Staff for the Florida Army National Guard. In this role he is the senior federal official for the FLARNG and serves as principal executive assistant and advisor to the Adjutant General exercising executive management authority in planning, developing, executing and controlling all Florida Army National Guard programs.

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Gerald H. Dedge assumed responsibilities as the Florida Army National Guard Command Chief Warrant Officer on April 1, 2015. As a member of the Command Group, Mr. Dedge advises the Adjutant General on all aspects of managing the Warrant Officer program and assists the Command Group in the strategic direction of the Florida National Guard and its members.

Chief Master Sgt. Tracey Canady is the tenth Florida State Command Chief Master Sergeant and is assigned to Headquarters, Florida Air National Guard in St. Augustine, Fla. He serves as the personal adviser to the Florida Air National Guard Commander on all issues regarding the welfare, readiness, morale, and proper utilization and progress of the enlisted force.
