Brigadier General Paul B. Chauncey, III
Assistant Adjutant General – Army - Training Installations and Programs (M-Day)
Brigadier General Chauncey is the Assistant Adjutant General - Army - Training Installations and Programs (M-Day) for the Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG).
He most recently served as the Commander of the 83rd Troop Command in Tallahassee, Florida. Prior to that assignment, he was on the faculty of the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was assigned as the Deputy Director of Homeland Defense & Security Issues Group.
General Chauncey has served in a variety of command and staff positions throughout the FLARNG and on active duty, including assignments in Army Special Forces; Joint Special Operations; Joint Interagency Logistics; and Geographic Combatant Commands. He is a veteran of several combat deployments, to include Operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. From 2002 to 2003 he served as the Logistics Director for Joint Special Operations Task Force – Crisis Response Element in the Horn of Africa and as Special Operations Command Central’s Senior Logistics Advisor to Joint Special Operations Task Force – Arabian Peninsula, 5th Special Forces Group, and Other Governmental Organizations throughout Iraq. General Chauncey has commanded at the Detachment, Company, Battalion and Major Subordinate Command levels. He has also served at the Joint Interagency level in support of defense support of civilian authorities, including service as the Unified Logistics Chief of Staff for the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management during the multiple Florida hurricanes of 2004, the Florida Logistics Chief to the State of Mississippi during Operation “Task Force Katrina” in 2005, Commander of the Florida National Guard joint security task force in support of the 44th Presidential inauguration and Senior Florida Army National Guard liaison to the U.S. Coast Guard in response to Operation Deep Water Horizon. Concurrent with his military duties, General Chauncey advises private and governmental emergency management and disaster response agencies throughout the United States on civil-military and logistical matters, and serves as an adjunct professor of logistics and applied technology at St. Johns River State College.
General Chauncey earned a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Master of Management in Integrated Logistics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is certified as a Demonstrated Master Logistician by the Society of International Logistics and the Army Logistics University, and is a graduate of the Domestic Joint Task Force Commander’s Course, the Army Logistics University Interagency and Joint Logistics Programs, the Sustainment Pre-Command Course, the Command and General Staff College, the Support Operations Course, and the Quartermaster Officer Advanced and Basic Courses.
General Chauncey’s awards and decorations include the Combat Action Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (five awards), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal (two awards), the Florida Cross and the Distinguished Order of St. Martin. Skill badges include the Army Master Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Honduran Parachutist Badge and the Canadian Parachutist Badge.
