State Command Chief Warrant Officer, Florida Army National Guard


 

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Robert Gibson serves as the State Command Chief Warrant Officer for the Florida Army National Guard. He is the senior advisor to the Commander of the Florida Army National Guard on all matters relating to Warrant Officers. He is responsible for keeping the Assistant Adjutant General – Army informed and makes recommendations on matters affecting Warrant Officers.

CW5 Gibson has over 34 years of military service in M-day, T-32 Mil Tech, and T-32 AGR positions. He has successfully performed duties as a Geospatial Engineer, JOC Plans Officer, Media Technician, Ground Safety Training Specialist, State Safety Manager and is currently the Florida ARNG Command Chief Warrant Officer. He is a qualified Master Resilience Trainer, graduate of the Army Instructor Course, and a Certified Army National Guard Accident Investigator. CW5 Gibson has been instrumental in multiple state and national level programs, networking best practices from 54 States & territories and has marketed safety throughout the nation. He has designed training program initiatives and philosophies to all levels of leadership, from the Director, Army National Guard down to unit level Commanders, sharing lessons learned from his experience conducting multiple nation-wide accident investigations.

CW5 Gibson entered the National Guard in 1989 at age 17 and has had multiple deployments throughout his career. These include Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia & Kuwait in 1991, Operation Joint Forge in the Balkans in 2000 and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2012. Mr. Gibson graduated Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS) at Ft. Rucker (Novosel), AL in 2002. He became a TAC Officer for the ARNG Pre-Warrant Officer Candidate Course at Ft. McClellan, AL, helping regional Warrant Officer Candidates prepare for WOCS. Mr. Gibson was influential in improving the curriculum to educate, train, and inspire future Warrant Officers. He was a key mentor and academic instructor focused on leader development, career advancement planning, and ethics. Mr. Gibson’s mentorship spans to all levels across the 54 States and Territories.

CW5 Gibson has his Masters degree in Adult Education, a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Studies, an Associates degree in Drafting & Design, and is a graduate of the National Geospatial Intelligence School. He has completed all required PME courses culminating in the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education Course at Ft. Novosel, AL. He has completed multiple FEMA and emergency management courses and has been involved in numerous domestic operations and disaster responses across the southeast. Mr. Gibson has experience working with local and state emergency management leaders, state organizations, and civil authorities in both county and state Emergency Operations Centers.

CW5 Gibson has multiple federal and state awards and decorations to include a Bronze Star Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze stars and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
