Deputy Commander, Florida Army National Guard


 

Brigadier General William Temple is the Deputy Commander, Florida Army National Guard. He earned his commission though the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1996 following six years of enlisted service, and has served in various command, staff, and leadership assignments while serving in the United States Army and the Florida Army National Guard. His most recent assignment was as the Commander, 50th Regional Support Group, and prior to that he served as the Commander, 930th Digital Liaison Detachment; Director of Aviation and Safety, FLARNG; Deputy Director – Chief of the National Guard Bureau’s Action Group, Pentagon; Director of Operations and Training (G3), Joint Force Headquarters, FLNG; Commander, Army Aviation Support Facility; and Commander, 2d Battalion, 111th Aviation Regiment.

General Temple is a qualified Army Aviator in the TH-67, OH-58, CH- 47, UH-72 and C-12; with advanced qualifications as a CH-47 Maintenance Test Pilot and UH-72 Pilot in Command. He has deployed in support of numerous combat, peacekeeping, and humanitarian operations in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Hungary, Germany, Albania, Kosovo, Austria, and Poland as well as nine State Active Duty operations.

Brigadier General Temple's academic education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Business Administration degree from Strayer University and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the United States Army War College. His military education includes the Dual Status Commander’s Course, Joint Task Force Commander’s Training Course, Joint Air Tasking Order Processes Course, Associate Logistics Executive Development Course, Aviation Pre-Command Course, Counterterrorism Executive Course, and the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (2nd Award with V Device), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5th Award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5th Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Florida Distinguished Service Medal (2nd Award), Combat and Expert Infantryman Badges, Senior Army Aviator Badge, Airborne Badge, Air Assault Badge, Army Staff Badge, and the German Army Marksmanship and Parachute Badges.
